Haruka's Secret 8 - The Modern Superman

This weeks episode is all about how perfect Yuuto is.  His perfect manners, his perfect behavior, his perfect hair.  All of which makes Mika conclude he and her sister are the boringest couple ever, and need she needs to teach Yuuto how to spice it up, mostly because her sister is already a lost cause.  Guess how this works out?

Yuuto is about to get served

Mika would appear to be the perfect person to teach Yuuto about the wily ways of women, given that she's never been on a date, goes to an all girls school, and is 13 years old.  But she's seen as the expert around town, much to her surprise.

Professor Nogizaka takes things just a little to far, as usual.

Just what was she teaching them?

Having established her credentials as the Dr Ruth of Japan, Mika heads back home where Yuuto and Haruka are creating on of their patented misunderstandings for the Nogizaka household.

Other choice quotes - "Can I touch it", "It's too big", "yadda yadda yadda"

I have to give them credit, this is kind of a unique one.

More to the point - WHY?

Because her sibling is not living up to her expectations, Mika comes to the following conclusions of her sister's days with the beau.

And your 80 lbs coy tank would be an improvements?

Here is the start of the study of Yuuto as the perfect boy.  First, he is willing to humor a little kid calling him out, pretending (poorly) to be her sister to trick him into meeting her for a day out.

And Yuuto's kindness is...rewarded?

Mika explains her plan over a light snack.

Is she talking about her sister or her parfait?

The following is presented as proof that the editing team of this show has that one guy, you know the guy, you know, him.

Even IN context, this is wrong

What follows is your typical kid version of what a date should be.  The boy should always hold the girls hand (though I would assume this is a mutual activity).  The boy should take the girl to a movie.  The boy should catch the clumsy girl when she trips (OK, that last one was not planned).  And most importantly, the boy should NOT flirt with his other girlfriend while on the date.

A little too spot on

So what do you do when your man is being hit on and you're rich?  You make him go shopping.

Show a bit too much wrist for my taste

When wearing a yukata, you are obviously headed for the festival.  Which leads me to the following observation.

What exactly is the people to goldfish ratio in Japan?

Getting back to Yuuto the perfect man, throughout the episode, Mika has been experiencing all the things that Yuuto does to make the ladies swoon, like actually paying attention to them and being a nice, concerned person.  If only it was that easy.  This is topped off at the fireworks display when Yuuto saves Mika from the trials of being short by lending her a step up.

That is a statistical improbability

And just when you think Yuuto will let you off with the conclusion to a fun day, he pulls out his trademark humility that just makes the ladies melt.

What date were you on?

Cue the melted heart face in three, two, one

I though that was the problem we started with

And just you think Mika is going to make a play for her sister's toys, Haruka shows up on the scene to remind us who is in charge here.

Keep in mind, having more than one of these things is rare in modern Japan - And Now You Know!

And they walk off into the sunset and...oh yea, forgot what show this is.  The last 2 minutes have to set up the conflict for next episode.

Ah, on the planning committee for the school festival with the other woman, I see.  I'm sure nothing will come of this.  Next week, more sarcastic non-predictions from your blogger.
