Haruka's Secret 7 - Daddy Dearest

We left Haruka and Yuuto in a tight spot. Haruka had disappeared, only to show up on Yuuto's doorstep in full crisis mode. Once again, it was probably obvious where this was going, but if you're like me and need it spelled out, I'll just paste it here before the bump so there is no confusion.

And now we're in a very special Lifetime original drama

I told you the photos would come back to haunt these guys.

She would have gotten away with it if it wasn't for you darn cosplayers

Thanks to Mika at home base, we learn first that Hazuki has followed Haruka to Yuuto's house (OK, we don't actually need to be TOLD that as we see her show up) and that Yuuto needs to hold out for 23 hours before Mika can bring in help.  Finally, she tells him what he's up against.

How many armies are there in Japan?

Given the tone of this show, we are not surprised when this crisis turns into a sleepover party.

I'll wipe that smirk off your face

Time for some patented Haruka self pity before we begin.

Where did that come from?

You know the formula - Yuuto says something to make her feel better, she says "really?", Yuuto says "Of Course!", and everyone's happy.  Slight variation this week, as Yuuto has to get mushy in front of some harsh critics.

He'll never hear the end of this

Let's get this party started - with inappropriate personal questions!

Family is always embarrising

Everyone piles on for this one, from the sister to the maid to the teacher (yes, this show is messed up) trying to get some dirt out of Yuuto.  This even piques Haruka's interest - which is expressed as vacant staring.

This girl must be part deer

Yuuto manages to weasel out of his interrogation, and the party comes to it's inevitable conclusion.

Drunk maids FTW

I think, for once, adults in an anime series had the good sence to NOT give the high school kids sake, but Haruka still manages to fall asleep on the couch and needs help getting to bed.  Waking up in your boyfriend's arms should be every girls dream (I'm told), and in this case, we learn a new word.

A what now?

What cliche plot line will we follow this week?  Sleepwalking?  Fear of the dark?  Bed wetting?

Fear of the dark it is

Keeping it innocent, Haruka sets up her futon on the floor, along with the one thing she carries around everywhere.  At this point, you should NOT go back to the start of the episode and notice the lack of anything resembling a bag or even pockets on either Haruka or Haruki like I did, you'll ruin the magic.

Maybe it was magic maid storage?

Which once again makes Yuuto ALMOST remember something fairly important.

This boy needs his memory jogged with a 2X4

Just to swing all the way to the sappy side, Haruka needs a bit of comforting to fall asleep, holding Yuuto's hand to feel secure.

And yes, this is as uncomfortable for Yuuto as it looks

Yuuto awakes to an idyllic scene that any young man would love to wake up to.

You know that won't last

Mika is now the Hulk?

Who found what?  This guy found Yuuto.

Is the riot gear really necessary?

Everyone gets in the act here in their own unique way.

Now we know where Yuuto gets it

Guns vs Saw.  Saw wins

Daddy's confrontation with Haruka (after throwing Yuuto across the room) gets a tad lost in translation.

I'm sure that's what he said...

In all the back and forth, Yuuto finally says what I've been yelling through this whole series - who cares?  Why are otaku the anti-christs?  (anti-christi?)  With the aid of flashbacks, Yuuto argues that anime and manga...

Someone had to say it

Before Dad can slice up Yuuto, Mika arrives with back-up.  Sexy backup.

OK, less sexy than initially thought

Naturally, Dad is unable to stand up to the wife.

He's whipped

For Haruka, this means she can stay with Yuuto for ever and ever

Awwwwwwwww

The reaction to this is immediate

Are the soldiers really necessary?

In the end, not only does Haruka's family accept her hobby, Yuuto becomes known as the guy who stood up to dad.  This may not be good for his health.

but not in a good way

I would like to point out that just three episodes ago, we were trying to set up a love triangle.  Doesn't this pretty much kill any chance of that?  I have no doubt they will be able to revive it with some unbelievable misunderstanding or mixup, and it's going to be painful.  Here's hoping this is a 13 episode series and they end it quickly.
