Sekirei 7 - Phase 2
Sunday, September 7, 2008 at 10:09PM
Sekirei is nearly done with it's initial set up phase, and most of our players are in place. Even the head of the MBI has hinted that it's time to take it to "Phase Two", whatever that means. For the meantime, it means we really need to work out the sleeping arrangements.

The landlady is going to "rearrange" this situation
But first, we get a short glimpse into the improbable origins of the Sekirei. And by improbable, I mean this is going to be a plot hole big enough to drive a truck through, as the now president of the MBI and unidentified sidekick have made a startling discovery that the rest of the world was too busy to bother with.

Satellite imaging, constant air travel, Google maps - and you're the only ones who noticed?
I suspect this will get annoying fast, but hopefully we can file it as a nitpick and get back to the actual story. (And yes, this somehow links us back to the very first scene in the very first episode, but you know what? Ask me if I care, just tell me a damn story, don't foreshadow some dark past/future). And that story is almost entirely dedicated to introducing a new character.

Welcome to Izumo House!
This is Karasuba, an old associate of Musubi who's come to check up on her. And if you're in the know, like Matsu, you also know to be afraid, be very afraid.

Be nice
Naturally, this new person has a dark past (and present) and goes by a sinister nickname.

Hence the robes
Heck, even the landlady knows of her. And not in a good way.

Food Fight!
So to summarize, The Black Sekirei is a member of MBI's disciplinary squad, a ruthless killer and a fighter on par with any Sekirei. We have our bad guy, people.
In the midst of all this, MBI decides to lock down the city and kicks it up a notch.

Which total only 10?
Now the city has become a battlefield, and Sekirei are knocking each other off left and right. This splits the group between those who are ready to fight (Musubi, Tsukiumi) and those who just want to hang out (Minato, assume everyone else). We also have what, four? five? pairs of Sekirei promising to be the last two standing, not to mention that Minato has four Sekirei, and obviously not all of them can be the last one. I don't know if my electrolytes are low or what, but I found a lot to nitpick with the base concepts of this show, mainly because this show was about laying out the base for the rest (maybe) of the series. And right now, it's a friggin mess.
