Chrome Shell Regios - The Power of Para Para

Let's be clear - the plot of Chrome Shell Regios is a mess. Besides the fact that, since my post about the half dozen plus plot lines, all but one has been completely ignored, there isn't much going on that makes any sense. In episode 5, we are lead to believe that this city of students has survived in this hostile wasteland with a defense force of, well, students. This must mean that the latest invasion by what everyone describes as "baby" bugs is the first real threat they have faced, since they get smoked. If it wasn't for Layfon, I'm assuming the whole city would have been over run. And then there is the fact that Layfon is able to slaughter these bugs a dozen at a time when even the students with some skill couldn't even dent them. All of which brings me to my point.



Baby Killer

When Layfon does his thing, both now and in flashbacks, it's accompanied by an outdated Para Para soundtrack. Para Para is, as of now, a real old trend pairing up dance moves with exaggerated hand gestures with fast paced tinny electronic music. My main exposure to Para Para was a DDR like game with 360 degree sensors to pick up arm as well as leg movement. The music itself is amusing for about 5 seconds, then it gets really repetitive.  The first 10 seconds of this video are all you need to see what I mean .
