Bakemonogatari Ep 3&4 - Snail's Pace

The problem with blogging this show is you can't really do the story justice with screen shots and summaries. For example, if I was to simply summarize this episode, it would be:
And you may see where the title of this blog post comes from. And yet these are a riviting 45 minutes that trumps any action packed anime of this or any season. And it all starts in a primary colored wonderland of a playground that forms the setting for most of these episodes.
They don't have anything like this in the US
Starting off with 16 minutes of her?
Good start
The majority of this conversation is Senjōgahara offering something in exchange for Araragi's help with her weight problem. And when I mean something, I mean pretty much anything.
You have something on you face...
She makes suggestions - adding "nyo" to the end of all her sentences, cooking breakfast wearing nothing but an apron, or defeat a Sayian invasion (inside joke there), basically, she is serious about the "anything" part of her offer.
Seriously, you REALLY have something on your face...
Luckily, Araragi isn't the type to take her up on silly, though REALLY tempting, offers like that, and she pretty much fails to get anything out of him that works as payback. The rest of the conversation explains why Senjōgahara even found Araragi hanging in a park on Mother's Day, of all day. Seems Araragi is in a rebellious stage, and had a falling out with his sisters over not wanting to hang out for Mom's Day. With everyone else spending the day indoors, he finds himself alone with other people who don't have mothers.
Think of the libel insurance costs!
Araragi eventually notices a grade schooler repeatedly trying to read a street map. He offers to help, but as we've seen in the past, he has a way with the ladies.

Quick visual note - what is with the names of all the points of interest on the map behind them?
Her name is Hachikuji, and she is trying to get back to her mothers for a visit since she lives with her dad. Araragi offers to help, and since Senjōgahara use to live near-by, she becomes their guide. After what is kind of a drawn out scene, everyone comes to a realization - they are permanently lost.
DON'T PANIC!
When I say permanently lost, I mean permanently lost. No matter what Senjōgahara tries, she can't find an address she is sure she knows. Araragi suspects something is up, and gets send Senjōgahara to consult with Oshino about what it might be. While Araragi may sympathize with Hachikuji, she doesn't really appreciate it.

Then this chick shows up for no apparent reason, I have no idea why, but I have a feeling she'll keep showing up, so I'm not going to worry about it right now.
Hi There! I'm Superfluous!
Oshino calls to explain the situation. Seems we are dealing with a snail, a spirit that leads souls astray. As long as the snail stays with a person, they shall never find their destination. Oshino says he is sending Senjōgahara with a plan, but won't tell Araragi what it is over the phone.
This after two full episodes?
It is true very little happens in this episode. 75% took place at a single location. But the interactions, the visuals, the interplay, I am loving this shows uniqueness and character. And all that is on top of the fact that, while I normally sympathize with the male lead, I can't really bring myself to like Araragi. He seems to allow way to much to just happen to him, totally out of control of his own destiny.
