Spring Anime Department on Line 2
Saturday, March 20, 2010 at 08:30AM Let's take a look at a sampling of the anime slated for release in the next month. A more complete picture can be found at the always reliable Chartfag. All pics are, ahem, borrowed from that same source.
From the End Of Eastern Literature Department

Yuri, Boobies, and Literature. Welcome to Japan!
This time there are three different series related to the Eastern literary classic Romance of the Three Kingdoms. We have Shin Koihime Musou, Ikkitousen: Xtreme Xecutor and the more aptly named Romance of the Three Kingdoms. I honesty don't know much about this story, and the first two make me bleed from my eyes, so we'll move on.
From the I'm Told That I'll Like These Department

These are three series that are producing some major otaku-glee out there. Kaichou wa Maid-sama! comes from a manga that gets rave reviews in the circles that I trust, Heroman is a Stan Lee joint, and Mayoi Neko Overrun! has a manga adaptation from the artist behind to-Love-ru, a seemingly universally loved story. As for my take, I've been avoiding Maid-sama manga so I can watch the anime clean, but it will all come down to the male lead. If he's a jerk with a heart of gold, fine. If he's a jerk trying to keep the female lead "in her place" I'm going to have an aneurism. Heroman's main draw to me is that it's set in the US, which is always amusing, and Overrun I'm on the fence, to be honest.
From the I'll Watch One Episode Department

Three shows that grabbed my attention with their unconvential look are House of Five Leaves, Yojo-han Shinwa Taikei, and Arakawa under the Bridge. Just from the preview pics you can tell something is up. Five Leaves follows a down and out samurai who discovers there is more to his crime boss ward than he lets on. Yojo-han is based on the authors university days. Under the Bridge introduces a straight laced student to a group of eccentric homeless, though I have to admit this doesn't match the preview pic. All of these sound fascinating, and all of them will weird me out enough that I only make it through one episode.
From the I Should Know Better Department

Angel Beats and Ichiban Ushiro no Dai Maou have summaries that make me think I'd be better off dead than watching them, but damn me I'm going to watch the whole thing. Angel Beats takes place in purgatory-as-highschool where students are in armed revolt against their angel/student council captors. Ichiban follows a mild mannered magic school student with a mysterious destiny and more mysterious female classmates. So bad, it's good. Of note is that Angel Beats is from KEY, who made Air and Clannad. Clannad with guns? Yep, guilt pleasure here I come.
From the WHERE IS YOUR GOD NOW Department

Presented without comment: B Gata H Kei - Yamada is a high school student, and a virgin, who aspires to have 100 casual sex partners. Despite this, she soon finds herself targeting and pursuing only one boy.
You know I'm going to watch this...
From the This Is The One I'll Watch Depatment

Working! follows an employee at a family restaurant filled with eccentric co-workers. The preview episode sold me on a simple gag show that I'll watch until it becomes K-On at work.
